In the meantime, take a look at some of the other cool LED lights designed by Ingo Maurer! Some are DEFINITELY more on the conceptual side but still worth a look. Lights out until next time! - Photos Via Ingo Maurer

Sit On Your Light - Lighting by Ingo Maurer
Someone at work sent me a link this morning and I just had to blog about it. This LED Bench was designed by German visionary designer, Ingo Maurer. Born in Germany, Maurer did wind up emigrating to the US but only stayed long enough freelance as a designer for three years before moving back to Germany and settling in Munich. Trapped within the moulded glass are 288 white LEDs which emit light on both sides of the bunch. Created in 2002, this piece was exhibited during the 70th anniversary of Coco Chanel's Diamond collection. With no visible cords, conductors or cables, all that you see is the little white lights. Absolutely stunning! While this bench is available for purchase, you have to contact the manufacturer for pricing which can be done here.

This is such. a. cool. bench. I recently visited the SoHo showroom of Ingo Maurer, and I was simply blown away. Some of the stuff was just a bit too unique for me, but then I came to pieces like the LED bench, and I knew I'd be lusting after it...
Thanks Stroller Snob! If Glinda the Good Witch had a bench...this would definitely be it!
Nice collection. Great work.
Thanks Artelight!
I know this post is quite old, but Ingo Maurers work is so great. Not only the LED stuff but the actual lamps. Do you know his Zettel´z? It´s so great
