LED Map and Flashlight by Owen Song

"Light," a new concept design by Korean designer, Owen Song brings new meaning to the phrase "lighting your way." Part map, part flashlight, "Light" features a map on one side and two exposed electrodes on the back side. Between the papers is a super thin 12 Volt battery used to power the LEDs that illuminate the paper. When the map is rolled up, the two electrodes touch and the whole scroll illuminates, essentially turning the map into a flashlight! How cool is this! As I said, it's still a conceptual piece but this is a fantastic idea! "Light" was designed to be a helpful guide, providing both direction in the form of a map and security in the form of a light. The perfect travel companion, "Light" has an adjustable size, depending on how tightly you scroll it - make it smaller by scrolling it more, or larger by scrolling it less. While there's still something to be said for going camping with a couple of traditional flashlights, this new concept could really take off! Lights out until next time! - Via DesignZen
