Lighting Trends

At first glance, the Anemona lamps by Russian designer Igor Pinigin look like big gleaming white teeth. But then they change color and they just look like cool lamps! Anemona (the "visually unsteady lamp") was recently exhibited at the world wide lighting convention, Salone Satellite, in Moscow. Anemona features heavy little glass globes spread out over the bottom, which help to stabilize the oblong-shaped lamp. These stabilizing glass balls allow you to position the lamp at any angle without affecting the light. There's no information about what powers Anemona or what sort of light bulb is required, although I would guess its illuminated with LEDs. According to Pinigin's online portfolio, a prototype of Anemona has been produced and tested.

You might recognize Pinigin's design aesthetic if you remember my "food lighting" post. He also designed the Egg Light. Anemona kind of reminds me of Constantin Wortmann's Alien lamps, which I blogged about a couple of months back. Which ones do you like better?
